Brad and Emily

December 31, 2009

Sometime mid summer Brad and Emily contacted me from California (Baltimore natives) because they had seen some of my editorial/documentary work and wanted to know if I shot weddings.  Brad is a cinematographer and Emily is a producer for documentaries.  They thought my style would be a great fit for their wedding and we began chatting and planning out the day.  We both shared a love for light and Brad planned a lot of the day around the light so I was very fortunate to have Brad working with me on my side.

It was really wonderful and I am honored to be a part of the wedding.  Friends and family gathered at a large house on the Eastern Shore a few days before the wedding and began setting up, making decorations and planning out the events of the day.  They really wanted to emphasize their family and friends and what better way.  The day started with me capturing them getting ready and some detail shots.  As the sun turned its nice golden color, the ceremony began right by the water.  The light was magical and Brad and Emily’s untraditional approach really synced.  After the ceremony the Brad, Emily and the wedding party all headed out to a soybean field where we again used the amazing light and locale to make some pictures.  Shortly after shooting the farm/house owners brought out their vintage truck for us to use as a great prop for portraits.

After our portrait session, we head back to the water front for the reception and dancing.  I had an amazing time making pictures and if there is one thing to take  away from this wedding all you couples out there, plan your pictures around the light.

Thalia and Jason

December 5, 2009

Thalia and Jason had their beautiful wedding at the Newton White Mansion and the light could not have been better.  After taking photos of the them getting ready at the mansion, we headed outside for the ceremony as the sun set.  At the conclusion of the ceremony we went to the back of the house for the portraits to take advantage of the property and golden sun light.  Afterwards we headed to the cocktail hour for a Caribbean theme reception, complete with steel drums and Caribbean inspired cuisine.  The wedding planner, Candice Owens (Haute Minded Events) did a wonderful job with keeping things on time and the florist, Janet Flowers, did a elegant job as usual.  A special thanks to my second shooter, Lindsay MacDonald for doing a great job as well.  And of course, a big hug for Thalia and Jason for making me part of their day and giving us the freedom to use our creativity to make them something special.
